Vía Barrosa Treixadura is a dry white from Galicia in Spain, Ribeiro DO, made entirely from Treixadura — the pride of Ribeiro, a variety that gives the wine expressive aromatics and a noble structure. A gentleman rabbit appears on the label. The colour is pale gold with greenish highlights. The nose opens with ripe white fruit — juicy Duchesse pear, green apple and honeydew melon — then white flowers, jasmine and orange blossom, light citrus zest and a distinct mineral note of wet stone and graphite. The palate is refreshing, with lively yet soft acidity and a silky, faintly oily texture; the finish is long and clean, closing on a pleasant citrus bitterness. Pairs with oysters and lemon, mussels in garlic butter, Galician-style octopus and grilled prawns, with baked sea bream and salmon tartare, with a salad of goat's cheese, pear and walnuts, and with seafood pasta. Serve at 8–10 °C in medium-sized white wine glasses.
