Steinbräu Weissbier is a traditional German unfiltered wheat beer (hefeweizen) with a soft, balanced taste and a rich aroma. The colour is the hazy golden straw typical of unfiltered styles, under a lush, lasting head. The aroma is bright and recognisable: ripe banana, light shades of clove and delicate bready nuances. The taste is harmonious and drinkable, with fruity accents, moderate sweetness and a refreshing texture. Chill the bottle to 6–8 °C: in this range the beer refreshes and still opens its spicy, fruity bouquet in full. Pour it into a classic tall wheat beer glass (weizenglas) — its shape holds the thick head and gathers the aroma. Tilt the glass to 45 degrees and pour most of the bottle, leaving 2–3 cm at the bottom; swirl the bottle firmly to lift the live yeast sediment and top the glass up with that foamy part. The beer goes with Bavarian sausages, braised cabbage and mustard, with fresh pretzels, with grilled chicken and pork ribs, with baked trout and fish fillet with lemon and herbs.
