A singular, intriguing white from Abruzzo, made from the indigenous Pecorino grape, which was very nearly lost and then brought back to life. Pehhcora is a tribute to the local shepherding tradition (the name means «sheep» in dialect). Aroma: A complex, distinctive bouquet with notes of ripe yellow fruit, meadow herbs, grapefruit zest and a characteristic nuance of white pepper. Taste: Full-bodied and concentrated, with pleasant, crisp acidity, pronounced minerality and a slightly saline finish. At the table: Excellent with black truffle dishes, hard sheep's-milk cheeses (Pecorino Romano), roast lamb and pasta in rich sauces.
