Nekresi Estate Rkatsiteli Qvevri 2023 is a Georgian amber (orange) wine made by the traditional Kakhetian method in clay qvevri vessels. It is 100% Rkatsiteli, an ancient Georgian variety that, after long maceration on skins and seeds, shows a completely different face from a conventional white. The bouquet is complex and intriguing: dried apricot, candied fruit, quince, walnut and honey, followed by spice, beeswax and dried flowers. The palate is dense and structured, with apricot and walnut-pith notes and the pleasant grip typical of the orange style; the acidity is lively and the finish long and spiced. Serve with traditional Georgian cheeses — sulguni, Imeretian, aged guda. It also suits roast chicken or duck with spices, oily fish from the grill, nuts and dried fruit. Use a large all-purpose white wine glass or a Burgundy glass with a wide bowl, so the wine can breathe.
