Cinzano Rosso is the classic Italian sweet red vermouth, born in Turin. It is built on grape wines with herbs, spices, caramel and roots. It is 15% ABV. The colour is a deep amber-red. The nose is bright and complex, led by spice, vanilla, cinnamon, caramel and wild berries. The palate is rich and velvety, sweet but carried by a savoury herbal bitterness and warm spice. Serve chilled at 8–12 °C or over ice — warm, it reads as cloying. Neat, use a rocks or vermouth glass with a slice of orange and a sprig of rosemary; in mixed drinks it takes tonic, soda or orange juice, and it is the base of a Negroni and a Manhattan. At the table it suits Parmesan and Pecorino, blue cheeses, orange and grapefruit, nuts, dark chocolate and Italian cured sausages.
