Cinzano Asti DOCG Cuvée Storica is a sweet sparkling wine (Spumante) from Piedmont, in the Asti DOCG zone. The Historic Cuvée name refers to the traditions of the Cinzano house, which dates back to 1757. It is made from 100% Moscato Bianco from the best Asti sites, at around 7% alcohol. The aroma is intense and inviting: ripe peach, apricot, white flowers such as acacia and wisteria, honey, candied citrus and a light touch of sage. The palate is velvety and sweet yet held in balance by refreshing acidity, with a tender creamy texture, a fine persistent perlage and a long fruity, honeyed finish. Serve well chilled at 6–8 °C, ideally in a tulip glass, which opens up aromatic wines of this kind more fully. Classic matches are panna cotta, tiramisu, fruit tarts and sponge desserts, fresh melon, strawberries and peaches; it also makes a surprisingly good contrast with Gorgonzola or soft cheeses such as Brie.
