Vía Barrosa Godello is a dry white from north-west Spain, from Galicia, made entirely from Godello. The style is mineral and refreshing, with good texture and expressive aromatics. On the nose, ripe peach, green apple, Duchesse pear and citrus, followed by white flowers, meadow herbs, a clear wet-stone minerality and a delicate note of grapefruit zest. The palate is silky and lightly oily, with lively acidity and a clean, long citrus-and-mineral finish. Pairs with oysters, mussels, grilled prawns, octopus and scallops, with white fish in lemon sauce and baked salmon, and with salads, pasta in cream sauce and seafood paella. For cheese, choose soft goat's and sheep's milk cheeses, feta or mozzarella. Serve at 8–10 °C in medium-sized white wine glasses.
