Frangelico is an Italian liqueur from Piedmont, made from a distillate of selected hazelnuts with berries, cocoa and vanilla extracts. It is 20% ABV, and the bottle is shaped like a monk in his habit with a rope belt. The colour is a warm golden amber. The nose is intense, with a bright accent of freshly cracked nuts and sweet spice. The palate is rich and soft, with roasted hazelnut, vanilla, dark chocolate and a light warming finish. Serve chilled or at room temperature, in low old-fashioned glasses over ice or in small liqueur glasses. A measure in freshly brewed coffee stands in for dessert, and it mixes well with vodka, cream or lime. At the table it suits cheesecake and tiramisu, nut cakes and brownies, ice cream with crushed nuts, bananas, pears and figs, and dark chocolate.
