Domain Tariquet «Premières Grives» (2023) — the famous medium-sweet white from the south of France (Gascony), with a remarkable balance of sweetness and freshness! • About the wine: This is perhaps the best known wine of Domaine Tariquet, the family estate in Armagnac (Gascony) that also made its name with outstanding still wines. «Premières Grives» (which translates as «the first thrushes») is a late-harvest wine made from 100% Gros Manseng. The grapes are picked once they begin to raisin on the vine, which concentrates sugars and aromas. • Tasting notes: The wine shows a beautiful golden yellow colour. The aroma is remarkably bright, concentrated and expressive, with a burst of exotic fruit (mango, passion fruit, pineapple), candied fruit, honey, quince and white flowers. The palate is rich and unctuous, with a fine balance between sweetness (residual sugar) and refreshing acidity, which keeps it from cloying and makes it surprisingly drinkable. The finish is long and honeyed-fruity. • Food pairings: An ideal aperitif wine. It is also a classic partner to foie gras (duck or goose liver alike). Superb with blue cheeses (Roquefort, Gorgonzola), fruit desserts (tarte tatin, peach tart) and with Asian dishes (sweet-and-sour sauces, curry).
