Leitz Dragonstone Riesling comes from the family estate Weingut Leitz in Germany's Rheingau. The name refers to the steep Drachenstein vineyard with its quartzite and slate soils, and the style is off-dry feinherb. On the nose, ripe white peach, apricot, lime and green apple, with mineral and lightly smoky nuances behind. The palate is juicy and mineral: crisp acidity keeps the natural sweetness in balance, and the finish is long and citrusy. Serve at 8–10 °C. The off-dry style tames heat, so the wine handles curry and pan-Asian cooking well, along with white fish, duck with apples and blue cheeses.
