Corona Extra is a Mexican pale lager drunk all over the world and firmly tied to a relaxed beach mood. The taste is light, clean and refreshing, with barely perceptible malt notes and a delicate bitterness; it quenches thirst well. The classic serve is a wedge of fresh lime in the neck of a chilled bottle and a pinch of salt on the rim: together they lift the citrus freshness and soften the hop note. It can also be poured into a tall pilsner glass. A light lager takes the edge off Mexican food — tacos, burritos, quesadillas, guacamole with nachos, chilli con carne — and it does not overwhelm prawns in garlic sauce, squid, mussels or grilled white fish; it also goes with buffalo wings, battered onion rings and salads with feta.
