Antigal Uno Red Blend is an Argentinian red from Mendoza, recognisable by the metal number one on the bottle. It blends red varieties — mainly Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot — hand-picked in high-altitude Andean vineyards. The bouquet is layered: ripe blackcurrant, plum and blueberry woven together with vanilla, sweet spice, tobacco and a hint of chocolate from oak ageing. The palate is velvety and rounded, the tannins ripe and soft, the finish long and spiced. Serve with ribeye or grilled meat, with roast lamb or beef braised with herbs. It also suits aged hard cheeses and cured meats such as jamón and salami. Use a large Bordeaux glass with a wide bowl and a tapered rim.
